Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for…the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
Jesus gave Himself to purify us from our zeal for the things of the world, from ungodliness and worldly passions, and to make us a people zealous for good works. We should be really excited about something. It’s not chorizo or sports. We’re to live godly lives, lives directed at God. He’s to be our passion.
A few days ago we read, “So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness” (2 Tim. 2:22).
The things of the world are not of God. Seek first His righteousness.
