Ps. 89:40 You have breached all his walls; you have laid his strongholds in ruins.
Jer. 38:28 …until the day that Jerusalem was taken.
Pr. 25:28 A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.
I pulled out the breach in the walls, the city broken into, as a theme in the reading today. Proverbs gives us a reason for a breach, a lack of self-control. Self-control is something a believer should exhibit. It’s a fruit of the Spirit, a visible evidence of the Lord working in your life. It’s slow to anger. It’s free from following lusts.
1 Timothy 6 brings out one lust to particularly flee from, the love of money. He gives us something to do instead.
1 Tim. 6:11-12 …O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…
Take action. Flee. Pursue. Fight. Take hold.
Surrender. Surrender your life to the King.
