I’m looking at pride and humility.
Ez. 16:49 Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.
Did you catch that pride was the sin of Sodom? They had an excess in their prosperity but they used it on themselves and not on the poor and needy. It’s a description of the Laodicean church, rich and in need of nothing.
Ps. 106:13 …they did not wait for his counsel.
Why does one not wait on the Lord? They aren’t trusting God and make the choice to lean on their own understanding and rely on themselves. Pride.
Heb. 8:1 Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest…
The word WE stood out. I assume the author of Hebrews is one person, but he acknowledges others. My favorite idea for who wrote Hebrews is Barnabas, the sidekick who was educated himself but was happy to let Paul be the acknowledged speaker and took on himself the support role of encourager. Humility.
