Behold, when it was whole, it was used for nothing. How much less, when the fire has consumed it and it is charred, can it ever be used for anything! Ez. 15:5 ESV
We are good for nothing. All of our efforts in the flesh may seem to produce results, but they are fleeting. Flesh fades. The only lasting fruit is spiritual fruit, which is produced by the Spirit alone.
This verse says that once it goes through the fire it can’t be used for anything. I’m taking this as a promise not a warning! We are baptized with fire. The end goal is flesh removed and Christ alone remaining. We want flesh burned away. I want to be good for nothing. I want Christ alone to do the work, speak the words, build the house, watch the city, produce the fruit.
There are churches that have grown large, but they can’t say they are having revival. The growth spurt isn’t being fueled by repentance. That has to come from the Lord. Our part isn’t getting people into the building, but making sure we’ve repented of our sin and worldliness.
