Daniel 3:17-18 ESV If this be so… But if not…

These two statements parallel each other. They go together. The Scripture says, “If you have us thrown into the furnace our God will deliver us, but if you do not have us thrown into the furnace, know that we will not serve your gods or worship your image.”

It makes absolutely no sense and would be a laughable statement if they had said, “But if God doesn’t deliver us, know that when we are a pile of ashes we will not worship your image.”

In verse 28, the king says, they “trusted in Him.”

Some translations say “If he does not.” The Hebrew just says the “if not.”

The American church has embraced the idea that we can’t trust God to save! His name means salvation! Paul quotes Psalms and says He delivers out of every trouble. Our God saves.

Ps 119:94 “I am yours; save me…”

Call on your Savior. After you suffer a little, He “will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
