No one is righteous. No one understands. No one seeks for God. No one does good. Not one.
We are all in the same boat. I call it the bottomless pit of depravity. I don’t think, if God were to show us all our sin, that He’d ever get to the end of it. It just goes on and on. The good news includes an infinite God who is bigger than all our sin, big enough to cover all the sin of all humanity for all time.
All of us are accountable before God for our sin. The law taught us we were sinners. The Bible teaches us there is no distinction between us. We have all sinned. We all fall short of God’s glory.
But the good news is that all who believe have the righteousness of God through faith. This grace gift was made possible because Jesus bought us. He paid the redemption price by His blood.
God, in His great patience, forgives our former sins and justifies those who put their faith in Jesus to save them.
No one can boast because no one is saved by their works. No one is saved except by faith in the power of the shed blood of Jesus.
By faith in Jesus and His death, taking our place on the cross, and in His resurrection overcoming death for the human race, we are free from sin in every way.
Jesus sets us free from the penalty of sin. We are no longer condemned to die but will have eternal life. We can also experience the Kingdom in some ways on earth. We can have miraculous provision, healing, and more, here on earth.
Jesus sets us free from the power of sin. In Christ we are no longer under the control of sin. We are no longer slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness. We have the power to say no to sin and temptation and to say yes to God and all His ways.
Jesus sets us free from the presence of sin. In our glorified state in heaven and in the new earth, there will no longer be sin, no more pain or tears.
If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed!
