For I find my delight in your commandments, which I love.

Psalm 119:47 ESV

Do you have delight in God’s commands? Does the obedience of a life laid down thrill you? To obey His commands we have to lay down our rights to ourselves. That’s another reason why it’s hard being a Christian in America. We have this silly idea that we have rights. But just because something is lawful doesn’t mean it’s profitable. What amazing things we lose out on when we insist on our way because it’s our right. If you ever find yourself justifying something by saying to yourself that you are not under condemnation, by all means stop and get rid of it from your life. I promise that the world holds paling delights next to the delight of being truly one with Christ through a life of surrender. Listen to these amazing promises.

“Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”

John 14:21 NLT

“All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.”

John 14:23 NLT
