…you who held fast to the Lord your God are all alive today…what nation has a god so near to it…“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently…lest [the law] depart from your heart…”
Deuteronomy 4:4, 7, 9 ESV
How did they keep alive? We’re told they held fast to the Lord.
We can hold fast because our God is near. If the Spirit is in you, He’s closer than flesh, more intimate than marriage. You are one. But we still have to hold fast. We still have to be diligent lest we forget Him.
We can walk and talk with the Person of the Holy Spirit. When you find yourself not turning to Him, not looking to Him, get a grip! Don’t let Him slip away in a slow fade of turning to self over the Living God. Your leaf will start to wither and brown. Stretch out to the Son. Drink of the Living Waters of His delight. Walk according to His word and be like your Master.
“but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.”
Proverbs 11:28 ESV
“but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.”
Luke 6:40 ESV
