I… shall not be greatly shaken.

Psalm 62:2 ESV

This psalm demonstrates the power of God’s word, and Psalms in particular, to build us up in faith, speaking life into broken souls.

The Psalmist says, “I will not be greatly shaken.” Then several verses later says this:

…I shall not be shaken.

Psalm 62:6 ESV

He’s gone from feeling shaken to refusing to be shaken.

Last week, we saw another glimpse of this in Psalm 56.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid…

PSALM 56:3-4 ESV

Over two verses He goes from “when I am afraid” to “I will not be afraid.”

Man doesn’t live by bread alone but every word that comes from the mouth of God. Do you have God’s word in you? Are you consuming God’s word like you need it to live each day?

Memorizing scripture is a way to meditate on it, chew on it, get it in you, and keep it with you to have in times when you or someone you love needs to go from fear to faith.
