But the person who does anything with a high hand … reviles the Lord, and that person shall be cut off from among his people.
Numbers 15:30 ESV
Korah and those with him all die for their sin. What they had done looked like a good thing on the outside, making an offering to the Lord. They die. All of them. Because they sinned against a holy God.
Our first reading today was about unintentional sin being covered by blood sacrifice. But anyone just choosing to blatantly sin without consideration of their offense against God was just killed. There was no sacrifice for him, only the wrath of God.
What are we to do? Fear the Lord and walk in the light of His word.
The righteousness of the blameless keeps his way straight…
Proverbs 11:5 ESV
We are kept by the righteousness of Christ. We live by His righteousness in us. We are kept blameless before Him by walking in His light and being cleansed from our sin as His light reveals things in us and we confess them and turn from them by His grace.
