“…to guide our feet into the way of peace” (Luke 1:79b, ESV).
Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, prophesies once his tongue is loosed after the naming of his son. The prophecy talks about John preparing the way for the One who will give light to those in darkness and who will “guide our feet into the way of peace.” Have you ever described why Jesus came as, to guide our feet in the way of peace? Why did Jesus come?
He came so that we might have peace with God, be reconciled with our Father. Our relationship was severed by sin, and we were enemies of God. We couldn’t love God, but we also couldn’t love each other. God is love. And without God’s unconditional love in us, we don’t even have the capacity to unconditionally love others. Jesus broke down the wall of sin that separated us from God, so we can be united with Him forever. He pours His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit given us, and we can love Him and love others. We can live a life of peace with God and others. We can live a life of unity with God and other believers. In Christ, we find the way of peace.
