Light Is Near

  1. I want to look at a couple of things Job says.
  2. Yet the righteous holds to his way, and he who has clean hands grows stronger and stronger.
  3. Psalms 84:7 They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion.
  4. How are they growing stronger and stronger, going from strength to strength? They have clean hands. What does that afford them?
  5. Psalms 24:3-4 Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.
  6. The one with clean hands stands in the Lord’s presence. He is their strength, and His strength can never fail.
  7. Here is another thing Job says.
  8. They make night into day: ‘The light,’ they say, ‘is near to the darkness.’
  9. When did light come near to darkness? When Jesus, the light of the world, became Immanuel, God with us.
  10. John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
  11. When the light of Christ is in us, we become the light. The darkness will be gone.
  12. Isaiah 58:10 If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday.
  13. The thing about light and darkness is that the darkness disappears wherever there is light. They can’t coexist.
  14. 1 John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
  15. To abide and remain in the light, we must abide in Christ, walk in His way, fulfilling His commands to love God and love others through that grace of strength that He alone provides.
