- You are going to make a shading chart today. Draw a long rectangle on a piece of paper, like this. Don’t use a ruler.
- Draw lines inside the rectangle to divide it into smaller boxes.
- Start shading the first box. The first box will be the darkest one. Every box after that will be a little bit lighter, and the last box will be the lightest one. You can make darker shades by pressing down hard with your pencil. Make the first box as dark as you can.
- Shade the second box. Make it a little bit lighter than the first box.
- Shade the rest of the boxes. Make each box a little bit lighter than the one before it. You can make lighter shades by not pressing down much with your pencil. You can leave the last box white.
