…what is the place of My rest?

Acts 7:49 ESV

I thought this was an interesting question. Where does God rest?

His resting place would be His home, where His comfy chair is, where He can put His feet up (if you’ll allow the illustration).

His dwelling place is in those who love Him.

Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him (John 14:23).

When does God rest?

And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested…(Genesis 2:2).

But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God (Heb. 10:12).

God rests when His work is finished. His finished work is already done in you. Is your “house” a place of rest?

Isaiah 58 ends with a call to honor God’s chosen rest. This is how it describes we do that.

…honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words (Is. 58:13 NKJV).

We make ourselves resting places for God when we delight in His word and in His “Sabbath” rest. We keep His word and live His way out of pure love for Him.
