“…It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”

Acts 26:7 ESV

A goad is a sharp stick used to poke and prod along.

Paul was kicking against the goads. God must had been goading Paul along to prepare him for his conversion moment. It wasn’t just the bright light that blinded him that caused the immediate repentance. He had been brought to that moment ready to recieve.

Jesus instructed His disciples to pray for those who persecuted them. What are the chances that some of them were obeying and praying for Paul who was known to them?

Paul knew the Scriptures well. It’s not hard for me to imagine the Lord letting him hear things about Jesus that Paul could see were prophesied, goading him along.

When God uses you in someone’s life, you are just one little piece in the amazing story God has been weaving together. He’s always at work. That person who you think is your enemy, could really be on the verge of being a brother. Pray for those the Lord lets touch your life. God’s at work.
