Whoever keeps the commandment keeps his life; he who despises his ways will die.

Proverbs 19:16

This stood out that “commandment” was singular. Life is bound up in keeping a singular commandment. If there is one commandment, the Bible tells us that it’s this: love your neighbor as yourself. We’ll read that soon in Romans 13, but that’s not the only place.

Have you ever considered what it means to you to love your neighbor as yourself? Have you ever tried it? Ever consider that when you buy something for yourself you could/should buy one for someone else?

There is such a thing as a church that gives half their money away. They take seriously the command to love your neighbor as yourself. Ever consider giving away half your money to those in need? Do you invest in the success of other people’s children, or just your own?

It’s something that needs to be brought to the Lord and dealt with. How are you loving your neighbor as yourself?

If what we have is all from God and for God, we have no right to it. We didn’t earn it. God doesn’t owe us anything because we don’t work. 🙂
