For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
Romans 3:28 ESV
I have been reading the autobiography of Charles Finney, a 19th century revivalist in New England. I just read this quote last night. He says that our justification is a present experience.
“I could not feel a sense of guilt or condemnation by any effort I could make. My sense of guilt was gone, my sins were gone, and I do not think I felt any more sense of guilt than if I never had sinned… . I felt myself justified by faith, and, so far as I could see, I was in a state in which I did not sin.”
We’re to walk in heart-purity before God. It’s a state we don’t strive for but walk in by faith. God does the work of purifying and cleansing. We make the choice to walk in the light and allow His light to expose any harmful way we unknowingly were walking in, immediately confessing and repenting and receiving His help to turn from it and to walk in His ways, remaining blameless before Him.
I pray for revival about daily, though anyone can come into revival through repentance at any time. I’ve been living in it since last year. The Lord got the world out of me. Jesus wants your whole heart.
