…He broke faith with the Lord… He did not seek guidance from the Lord.

1 Chronicles 10:13-14 ESV

I have written on this subject before, but it’s on my heart, and these verses stuck out to me.

It’s a breach of faith to not seek the Lord’s guidance. How many things do our churches do because they were done somewhere else, not because the Lord directed them to it in prayer? A whole lot because so many churches do the same exact things, and I know my God is infinitely creative. Of course, individuals do this too.

We shouldn’t be looking to others for what we should do. We should never use a how-to book when it comes to Christian life or ministry. We already have a book to follow! The stories of others should inspire us, but they aren’t there for us to copy.

The Lord can direct us in specific ways to lead us in how to do things. Let’s not put more faith in man and his ways than in God’s ability to lead us where He wants us to be.
