“A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven” (John 3:27, NKJV).

Can anyone be saved? Or does God harden some people’s hearts so that they won’t believe? Does God make it so some people have to go to hell and have no choice?

God is good! Yes, anyone can be saved. He made a way for everyone. Yes, there is a hell and people will be going there, but it’s a place of their choosing. “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.” What did God give to mankind from heaven for them to receive? Jesus! The answer’s always Jesus!

He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting, eternal life. Jesus wasn’t lying when He said that. We’re told in 1 Timothy 2:4 that God desires all to be saved. Peter tells us that God desires all to come to repentance. God wouldn’t be in His right mind to say He desired their salvation and then create them with the impossibility to be saved.

I have lessons on the phrases, “God hardened Pharaoh’s heart,” and “God sent a lying spirit.” God was acting in righteousness. His heart was for Pharaoh and King Ahab. He wanted them to be saved! He did more for them to show them His majesty and authority than most people will ever see. Yet they rejected Him.

We can take a look at some other verses that make people wonder. How about a verse like this? “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:44, NKJV). What if God doesn’t draw someone? What can they do? Let’s remember that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He’s unchanging. He’s always Himself. He’s always loving, always good, always holy, always just. He can’t deny one part of Himself. He’s never unloving when He’s carrying out justice. He’s always good when He’s demanding holiness. The verse says the Father must draw people to Christ if they are to come to Him. Let’s combine it with this verse. Jesus is talking again, “…if I am lifted up from the earth, [I] will draw all peoples to Myself” (John 12:32, NKJV). Jesus says all people are drawn to Him if He is lifted up. How did God draw all people to Christ? He sent Jesus to be lifted up. God made a way for all to be saved.
