Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil…

Psalm 23:4

The valley may be dark, but Jesus is the Light. Psalm 139:12 says the darkness is not dark to You but bright as day. There is light and life where Christ is. Keeping our eyes turned toward the Light with praise and thanksgiving is the way through the valley, through the battle, through the trial.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want…

Psalm 23:1

The Hebrew word for peace, shalom, means wholeness, as in not lacking or being in want. You could reword the first verse of the twenty-third psalm by replacing “I shall not want” with the idea of being complete in Christ, shalom.

The Lord is my shepherd; I have shalom.

He is our peace.
