And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush … God said to Moses, “I am who I am.”…

Exodus 3:3-4, 14

God didn’t speak to Moses until He had His attention. Moses turned aside to look at what the Lord was doing. We need to turn our attention to the Lord, breaking from what we’re doing and give Him our eyes and ears. He’s there with us throughout our day.

Note that it’s the angel of the Lord speaking to Moses calling Himself the self-existing One. The angel of the Lord is in the midst of the bush and then it says God called to Moses from the bush. The angel of the Lord is pre-incarnate Jesus, Jesus before He took on flesh. It was always His heart to be with and for His own.
