January 23

Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil. Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on…But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

Proverbs 4:14-15,18 ESV

There is a plea here. Don’t go! Don’t do it! Avoid it! Turn away! Do you hear the desperate warning? This was written by someone who had gone the wrong way or had seen too many people go the wrong way and knew the outcome. Heed the warnings!

We’re given ways to avoid going the wrong way, doing the wrong thing. “Do not enter.” Don’t ever think about it. Don’t start down that path to see what’s down there. Keep away. “Don’t walk in the way.” Don’t copy what you see others doing. Don’t live their way. “Turn away.” Repent. Turn around and go back if you started down the path. “Pass on.” Avert your eyes and walk right on by as if nothing were there.

If you do, then your path will be full of light. You will not stumble but shine brighter and brighter!
