But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Matthew 14:30-31
Peter is walking on water. He takes his eyes off Jesus and looks at his circumstance and becomes afraid. He cries out and immediately Jesus sends forth is strong arm to save.
God saves. He wants to save us. There’s no, “I told you so,” even if He had. We just need to look to Him for salvation and call out to Him. He is ready to be our help and savior.
We don’t hear Jesus calling out for rescue when people are out to kill Him, wanting to throw Him off a cliff, for instance. We don’t hear Paul crying out for saving when a mob wants to stone him to death.
Why? They were, of course, relying on God for their salvation. They just already knew they had life.
Take hold of instruction; do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life.
