Israel Restored

If the sun is going to rise tomorrow, Israel will be restored. They won’t only come back to their land, but God will have mercy on them, restore their fortunes, give them Levite priests and a descendant of David ruling them. Israel will dwell securely. They will also have their guilt removed and be rebuilt. Their name shall be a joy to God!

Is this physical Israel or spiritual Israel?

Another verse reads that the nations will fear and tremble because of all the good God does for them.

That would seem something that would be true for physical Israel, but I think at times it has certainly been true for spiritual Israel as well, when God has shown miracles to defy the evil plots of men against His people.

The thing is, spiritual Israel and physical Israel aren’t as separate as you might think. The nation of Israel isn’t just land; it’s a people. Christians are all grafted into the olive tree. We become physically part of Israel when we are in Christ. There is only one body. Israel is the motherland of all Christians.

Christians certainly have the promise of having our sins forgiven. I do believe there is a special promise to remove the guilt of Jews who at the end of things will see Jesus coming in the clouds and recognize their coming Savior, and I believe that there will be a mass conversion of stone hearts being removed and His Spirit being poured out on all who remain who are looking to Him with mourning and repentance, as opposed to those looking to Him with fear for self-preservation.

Physical Israel has already been restored and has been rebuilt, but it does not dwell securely because it does not yet live righteous in God’s sight. The end of this promise is not yet fulfilled for physical Israel. However, spiritual Israel is righteous in God’s sight and does dwell securely in the land, in God’s kingdom. No one can come and remove us from the land. In fact, the evil one can’t even touch us. Better than the “iron dome,” we are clothed with Christ.
