I Put My Name There

“I have consecrated this house that you have built, by putting my name there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.”

God says that the temple was consecrated and set apart for Himself by His putting His name there. We become set apart for God when we bear His name.

What does it mean to bear His name? His name is His character, nature, and authority.

It happens when there is a supernatural transaction and our sins are forgiven and we receive the Holy Spirit, when our old man is buried and Christ’s life is risen in us, when we’re are raised to life with Christ and seated with Him in the heavenly places.

We become adopted children, brought into the family. We take on the family name. The image we were created in begins to be restored to us.

We are His temple, each of us and collectively as the Body of Christ.

We are to remain set apart for Him and bear His name. We carry the name of Christ as ambassadors, as representatives.

We pray in the name of Christ, declaring our authority to present ourselves before God and make requests.

We minister in Jesus’ name, not only in His authority, but with His character, bringing God’s love and truth to people.

People should be able to see you and know that God’s presence blesses His people. That those who bear God’s name, also bear His image.
