God is Our Creator

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

John 1:3 All things were made through [Christ], and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Revelation 4:11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

Colossians 1:16 (BSB) For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Why is it important to know God as your Creator and as the creator of all things?

Knowing that God is our creator affords us many things. One, it helps us stand in awe of Him and acknowledge His greatness and power. After all, He can speak and make the world begin.

Psalm 33:8-9 (NLT) Let the whole world fear the LORD, and let everyone stand in awe of him. For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command.

Two, it helps us recognize that we are known by God. He is intimately aware of everything about us. We are known and understood.

Psalm 139:13-16 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

Luke 12:7 (BSB) And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Psalm 33:15 (NKJV) He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works.

Three, it helps us realize how precious and perfect every life is. Each living thing was created by the Living God. Each was designed by Him. Humans were made in His own image.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

We need to see every human life as valuable because they are all made in God’s image. To not love who you are and the form God designed for you can be like accusing God of a mistake. God is perfect. He would not be God if He could make a mistake. If God were capable of a mistake, then we could not trust Him! Without being able to trust God, we could have no faith and without faith we can have no salvation. We must believe in the Creator of all things good and right who does not make mistakes.

Lesson Point: God as Creator is an awesome God who can speak and create worlds, but who knows the intimate details of each of us.

Challenge Question: Do you love yourself? Can you thank God for creating you just so?
