Let’s all pray that God’s Word would speed ahead and be honored. We want God’s Word to reach everyone on the planet and we want God’s name to be hallowed, honored.

There are those without faith. They are wicked and evil. We pray to be delivered from those without faith.

The Lord is our guard. They are not to be feared. He is faithful and can establish us, abiding in Him, immovable.

I pray for you as Paul prayed. May the Lord direct your heart to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.

Our hearts should be full of God’s love and rooted and grounded immovable in the life of Christ.

Paul warns to stay away from the idle. That means you shouldn’t be idle! Turn off the entertainment. “Fun” isn’t for distracting ourselves. It’s for building relationships for God’s glory. Everything we do should be for God’s glory.

If you can’t do something for God’s glory, then you shouldn’t be doing it.

But specifically, Paul is talking about idleness. He wanted them to be working. Someone teaching God’s word has the right to be paid by those benefiting from it, but Paul wanted to be an example of working hard for a living. He worked to earn his keep.

The church there apparently was struggling with laziness, with hanging around gossiping, instead of being busy at work.

Now I will be the first to say I am not a busy person. I refuse to live a busy American life. But I am not idle. My days are filled from the time I rise EARLY until I go to bed. I am at work. That may be prayer. That may be reading the Bible. That may be sitting quietly in the Lord’s presence. That may mean singing to the Lord or memorizing Scripture. That may mean cooking and cleaning and helping with math. And it may mean fixing links and answering emails at allinonehomeschool.com. The days are long and full. But they aren’t full of entertainments and distractions.

I will again pray for you like Paul. May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way.
