And some of the oil that remains in his hand the priest shall put on the lobe of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed and on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot, on top of the blood of the guilt offering.
Leviticus 14:17 ESV
Here’s a picture of repentance. Repentance is a change of heart, a turning back to the Lord.
We confess and receive forgiveness; the blood symbolizes the washing away of our sin.
We then ask His help to walk in the Light, in His way; the oil symbolizes His Holy Spirit presence to lead us and help us, being our overcoming power.
This verse gives us three areas that need repenting, turning around.
The ear…we need to turn our thoughts to Him so we are attuned to listen and obey.
The finger…we need our actions to reflect that right thinking, listening, and decision to obey.
The toe…we need to change our direction. A definition of godly is being toward God. We need to set ourselves toward Him and never turn aside.
