He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease. He is unclean. He shall live alone. His dwelling shall be outside the camp.
Leviticus 13:46 ESV
I was half expecting the gospel story of the healing of the lepers today. They were kept outside the city. They were unclean. Jesus heals them and they spread the word so that Jesus has to remain outside the city. They are clean and can enter in. He switched places with them.
Of course, the ultimate example is the cross, where again, Jesus took our place outside the city. He bore our diseases and took on the full load of our sin and died so that we could enter in.
We are set free of our spreading disease of sin. We are pronounced clean. We are are welcomed in. We are never alone.
