Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. … and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
Psalm 27:3, 6 ESV
What is your fear response? Is it a song to the Lord? It is the shout of joy? Do you ever loudly shout because of your joy in the Lord? I know I am a quiet person, more likely to be found on my face than shouting when before the Lord. I am challenged because I know the commands to make the joyful shout. I do take advantage of being in the car alone and like to shout out, really loudly shout, “You are the great God!”
As a family, we do have loud times of praise. We call it the dance of joy. We call everyone together in a circle and jump and shout and praise and thank God. We do it when something great happens, but more often, we do it when something bad is happening. We choose to be confident and offer sacrifices of joy even when an army is encamped against us.
