All of Judea, including all the people of Jerusalem, went out to see and hear John. And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River.
Mark 1:5 ESV
We’re shown how to prepare the way for Jesus. John preached repentance for the forgiveness of sins. That looked like people confessing their sins and receiving the cleansing they sought. Personal and corporate revival, where Jesus shows up and transforms lives and communities, always begins with the confession of sins by those choosing to turn from their own ways to God’s ways.
Jesus shows up. They make the choice to follow Him and walk in His ways.
And as we saw in Moses’ story today, there is blessing in that obedience.
… as the Lord had commanded, so had they done it. Then Moses blessed them.
