Don’t Obey Fear

  1. What a stern warning we find in Proverbs 1! They will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me.
  2. God’s not always found by those seeking Him. You can’t just assume He’ll be there. There was a reason they lost Him.
  3. It happened because they did not choose the fear of the Lord.
  4. What do you fear?
  5. When faced with a fear, what do you do?
  6. Yesterday I literally woke up to a bee sting in the pitch black. A bee was killed later in my room. When I went up for bed, a minute later a bee appeared on my wall (doors and windows closed). I thought about sleeping in another room, and I moved my pillow and pjs. But then I reminded myself that fear doesn’t get to direct my decisions. And I moved it all back and went to sleep peacefully.
  7. Where do you face fears in your life? They could be external, like the pandemic. Did you let fear make decisions for you? When I had a fearful thought that I should or shouldn’t do something. I would do the opposite to let fear know it didn’t have the control.
  8. They could also be internal. People can sin because they fear not getting what they want, so they go get it for themselves. Can you think of a time you did that? You let yourself think about something until you acted on it? You were fearing something more than God. You were afraid of not getting what you wanted, so you took it.
  9. What did they need to do? They needed to take the Lord’s correction.
  10. Verse 23 ‘If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.’
  11. What an amazing promise for heeding God’s word and living by His counsel. He’ll give us Himself.
