Christ Our Priest

Jesus is our high priest, the one who is able to make atonement for our sins. He is the king of righteousness and the king of peace.

Jesus is of a new priestly order. He is not a priest according to the law. In the law, the Levites were the priests. Jesus is of the tribe of Judah. The law of priests offering sacrifices on our behalf has been done away with. In Christ we have a new kind of high priest.

The basis for his priesthood is “the power of an indestructible life.”

The law made nothing perfect. But we have hope by drawing near to God.

The old covenant didn’t remove sins. Sacrifices had to be repeated. Priests died and had to be replaced.

But Jesus removes our sins. He died once and for all. He lives forever and is our priest permanently.

Because of His perfect priesthood, Jesus is able to save us to the uttermost. He saves those who draw near to God through Him. They will be saved because He “always lives to make intercession for them.” Jesus is praying for you. God the Father will hear and answer those perfect prayers.

But not only that, He Himself is the reason we can draw near. We draw near through Him. He is the one that brings us to the Father.

Jesus has been made perfect forever.

Jesus’ perfect life is what you are living by faith.

Your hope of glory is Christ in you.

Your guarantee of being an heir with Christ is His life in you by His Spirit.

God’s law in us is by His Spirit. God loves to give the good gift of Himself. Ask for His Holy Spirit promise and lay down your life and ask Him to take it up as His own – perfect.
