Be their shepherd and carry them forever.
Psalm 28:9b
When I read this today, I thought that sounded like a great prayer. Lord, just pick me up and carry me. Forever. Then I don’t have to worry about which way to go. Just take me with you. I don’t want to have to do all that hard walking and climbing. Just carry me. In Isaiah 40, the lambs are carried in His bosom.
But then I was picturing a kid you’ve picked up because they aren’t coming/going the way you want them to, and I picture them squirming in your arms wanting to get down so they can go their own way.
A man’s steps are from the LORD…
Proverbs 20:24
The Lord can direct our steps by hook or by crook. King Cyrus’ decree to build the temple and to be provided with everything needed should encourage us all that the Lord will see to it that it happens, whatever He’s decided.
…his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel…
Ezra 3:11
Love is directed somewhere. God’s love is directed toward Israel. He will gather them in His arms and carry them home.
