August 18

It was pouring rain when I woke up this morning. As I was getting out of bed, I started praying from Psalm 68. “Send a plentiful rain and confirm your weary inheritance.” Anyone praying for revival, maybe you’d be inspired by Francis Chan’s prayer. It’s a 5-minute video. You can find it on Youtube. Search for “Crazy Love.” The video is called God Give Us Faith. All over, people are seeking those new wineskins.

Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, “Great is the Lord,” who delights in the welfare of his servant!”  Psalm 35:27 ESV

This stuck out to me for its parallel structure. We delight. God delights. We delight in righteousness. He delights in our welfare. Our righteousness should be our delight. It should make us shout, “Great is the Lord!” Our righteousness is our salvation. It ensures our welfare. Our righteousness is our wall of defense. But to be of any value, our righteousness must be the righteousness of Christ lived out through us.
