When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:17-18 ESV

Here, again, are more verses about who God hears and saves. Yesterday, we had those seeking the Lord, those fearing the Lord, those taking refuge in the Lord, and those responding to the cries of the poor. Today, we have the righteous crying for help and those who are brokenhearted. Even though the list grows, they are all the same person. The righteous one is the one who does what is right. What is right is fearing the Lord, seeking the Lord, taking refuge in the Lord, responding to the cries of the poor, and having a broken and contrite heart.

The heart of the righteous breaks over sin, sin in their own life and sin in the world. That brokenness breaks up the ground in your heart, like a plough turning over the soil getting ready for planting. It makes your heart ready to receive from the Lord. A seed planted in good soil produces 100 fold crop.

It’s important to know the Lord will hear you because we will have many troubles we need help with.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

Psalm 34:19 ESV
