At Your Right Hand

  1. Both of our psalms today mention the right hand of God.
  2. “Wondrously show your steadfast love, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand. Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings” (Psalm 17:7-8).
  3. “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).
  4. At His right hand we find refuge and pleasure. It’s where we are sheltered under His wings and experience the fullness of joy because we know we’re the apple of His eye.
  5. It’s where we should want to dwell, abide, spend our days and night and all our years to come.
  6. How can we stay there?
  7. We abide by keeping our minds on Christ, by setting Him before us, seeing Him with us at all times, talking to Him with praise and thanksgiving, knowing He’s with you.
  8. “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken” (Psalm 16:8,11).
  9. Having Christ with you, in you, which is the glorious mystery of Christianity, is how we live this life. It’s how we can not be shaken and face each day with trusting, hopeful faith.
  10. And when we live with trusting, hopeful faith, we are at peace, at rest. And when we are at rest, we can rejoice and live in that joyful pleasure which is knowing our God.
