So those who were sent went away and found it just as he had told them.
Luke 19:32
Everything will be just as Jesus said. People write whole books to try and explain away the things Jesus said. Better to just believe Him. When you don’t understand something, ask Him. Don’t Google it. Don’t read the commentaries. You have the author at your disposal. Get it from the source.
Today I was struck by this phrase from verse 38. “Peace in heaven.” I think of getting to heaven and finding a place of everlasting peace and joy. It seemed odd to me. But there are wars, even in the heavenlies. Think of the battle that raged as Daniel fasted and prayed for answers. Even heaven is groaning for the renewing of all things.
Then Jesus says:
“Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But … you did not know the time of your visitation.”
Luke 19:42, 44
What makes for peace? We can have peace only when we have peace with God. We are able to be reconciled to God and find peace through the cross. Sin destroyed our peace and unity with God and others. The blood of Christ restores it.
Don’t miss what Christ offers: freedom from sin. Believe it and find peace with God, with others, and in yourself.
