When Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, she envied her sister. She said to Jacob, “Give me children, or I shall die!”

Genesis 30:1 ESV

Rachel says give me children or I die. It’s a lie. God knows if He gives her children she will die. God gives her a son, but she isn’t satisfied in the Lord’s goodness. She wants another. She will have another son and will die.

Her idolatry will be the death of her. We see in Scripture God giving people what they want, what they are desiring, and that’s not good news for us unless we are desiring after God.
